Our sports massages are suitable for anyone suffering from a sporting injury or rehabilitation need, from professional sportsmen to anyone who’s ever stepped inside the gym. Our specialist provides the optimum results in muscle therapy.
Sports massage is a specialised form of massage utilising various compression, stroking, frictional and deep tissue techniques to achieve a desired therapeutic effect based on individual client needs. Lauren's focus is on diagnosing the root cause of your pain, resolving that pain and getting you to full fitness as soon as possible. Her focus on results, pain free movement within the realms of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation ensures the best possible outcome for clients. Sports massage can help to improve lymphatic drainage, decrease muscle tone/tension, release trigger points and thickened soft tissues, helps to restore optimum tissue length, providing pain relief. Thus, potentially leading to improved recovery following exercise, improved athletic performance, and increased psychological well being.
One of the primary goals of therapeutic massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. The techniques used in a therapeutic massage by Lauren are bespoke to each individual client and are exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.
Pain is very personal and subjective with no two people experiencing it in the same way. It can be a very unpleasant experience, especially if it continues for a long time as it can begin to affect all aspects of your life, including your ability to work, your personal relationships with family and friends, your sleep and activity levels.
Our pain service focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of painful conditions. This includes musculoskeletal pain (from joints and muscles) and pain from damaged nerves. Timely treatment can prevent pain from escalating and becoming chronic and therefore reduce the need for surgical intervention.
Types of Pain:
People suffer from many varied types of pain, which can fall into a number of different categories:
Low back pain
Neck pain, including whiplash
Leg pain, including sciatica
Nerve pain - caused by disc compression or spinal degeneration
Rehabilitation is the process to regain full function following injury and involves restoring strength, flexibility, endurance and power. It is achieved through various treatments, exercises and drills. Rehabilitation is as important as treatment following an injury but unfortunately is often overlooked. The aim of a rehabilitation program is to regain pre-injury levels in all aspects of physical fitness. A full rehabilitation and strengthening program is essential to ensure full recovery and in order to prevent re-injuries.
If you have any type of injury, we will explain it and provide information on rehabilitation, exercises, treatment and more. We include information on immediate first aid for recent or acute sports injuries as well as advice on treating long-term or chronic injuries. Many include step by step treatment and rehabilitation programs and expert interviews to help get you back to full fitness in the shortest possible time.
